Manage asset attributes

An asset will have a collection of attributes. When a new asset is created, a collection of standard attributes is added: Tag ID, Discipline and Tag Type. These attributes are required for all tags uploaded to Validate.

To manage an asset’s attributes, click on the “Manage asset attributes” menu item. This will take you to the “Asset attributes” page for the asset.

Each attribute needs to have a defined datatype. This can be one of: string (e.g., text), number, data, Boolean (true or false value) or default. Default attributes are covered in detail elsewhere and refer to collections of pre-defined allowed values a tag can use.

If tag types, source of records or milestones have already been set up, then attributes can be added to them upon creation. Simply use the various dropdowns on the form to configure the new attribute. Note: when added to tag types or source of records, they will not be set as required attributes, or considered part of the Tag ID format – this should be done when managing the tag types and source of records.

Archiving an attribute

To archive an attribute, click on the “Archive” menu option, and confirm the option to archive.
