View tags within packs on model
Model settings - configuration
Overview
The Model Panel provides a comprehensive set of features for interacting with 3D models. These include Orbit for 360-degree rotation, Pan for moving the model in any direction, and zoom for adjusting the view distance.
First Person mode simulates walking through the model using keyboard controls. Camera Interactions facilitate image creation, while Measure allows for precise distance and angle measurements.
Section Analysis enables slicing the model along XYZ planes, and Explode Model separates the model into sections.
The Model Browser and Properties features provide detailed views and information about model elements.
Settings offers customisation of performance, appearance, and navigation options, and Full Screen mode maximizes the viewer. Additionally, the Navigation Cube aids in orienting the model view. Each feature enhances the user's ability to explore and analyse the 3D model effectively.
Open the Model Viewer
You can the model viewer from within the tags and packs tiles in Operate.
When viewing tags or packs click on the model icon and then select a model from the available in the models screen, this will load the model on the right-hand side of the screen.

View Tags on Model
To view tags that have been enriched to the model:
- From the Home Screen, go to Tags.
- Click on the models icon.
- You will see a split screen, the left hand-side the tags table and the right hand-side will show the model.
- Add any filters you require on the tags table.
- If there is more than one tag enriched, you will see a toggle switch in the header Tag ID, you can use this to toggle all the tags that have been enriched to the model on or off.
- You can also just switch individual tags on and off using the toggle switch next to each tag.

View Tags Within Packs on Model
To view tags within a pack that have been enriched to the model:
- From the Home Screen, go to Packs.
- Click on the models icon.
- You will see a split screen, the left hand-side the packs table and the right hand-side will show the model.
- Add any filters you require on the packs table.
- If there is more than one pack with tags enriched, you will see a toggle switch in the header Pack ID, you can use this to toggle all the tags within the packs that have been enriched to the model on or off.
- You can also just switch individual packs on and off using the toggle switch next to each pack.

Model Panel Features

- Orbit – 360-degree rotation around the model.
- Pan – use mouse to move left, right, up, and down.
- Zoom – move in and out of the model. This can also be done using the wheel on the mouse.
- First Person – allows navigation using keyboard keys.
- Camera Interactions – used for creating images.
- Measure – opens a measuring window including point to point, angles etc.
- Section Analysis – options for slicing the model along XYZ panes.
- Explode Model – separates the model into individual parts.
- Model Browser – opens the design model selection tree within the model.
- Properties – opens the model properties within the browser.
- Settings – various configuration settings within the 3D model viewer.
- Full screen – opens the model viewer to the full screen.
Please note: The chosen panel feature is highlighted in blue. This example highlights the pan feature - 2.
Orbit

The Orbit selection allows 360-degree rotation around the model. When chosen a circle appears around the focus area for orbiting. By clicking various parts of the model will change the orientation of the orbit.

Greater control can be achieved by selecting a model object before selecting the orbit feature. This example a valve has been selected prior to choosing the orbit feature. The valve appears with a feint outline.
Pan

The Pan selection enables moving the model up / down, left to right. This helps to get greater accuracy on the visual within the model viewer.
Zoom

The Zoom selection enables moving in and out of the model. This can also be done using the wheel on the mouse. Tip - Best results for maximising the visuals within the model uses orbit, pan, and zoom interchangeably to focus in on areas of interest.
First Person

The First-Person selection enables navigating the model using functions from the keyboard to simulate walking around the model.

Upon selecting first person a dialogue box appears detailing the controls from the keyboard. This selection creates greater control for close up interactions than using the mouse controls.
Measure

The measure selection allows users to measure distances within the model:

The measure selection opens a further dialogue box with measure controls:
- Distance – measure point to point.
- Angle – measure an angle between three points.
- Calibrate – only used where models do not have internal measurements.
- Delete – Removes a measurement from the view.
- Measurement settings – change measurement unit (metres, cm, etc), measurement precision, isolate measurement and enable free measuring.
- Done – close measurement function.
Example for measuring:
- Shows a distance measurement.
- Shows an angle measurement.
Section Analysis
Sectioning does not affect the design file. Sectioning only affects the view of the model temporarily until the viewer is closed.
On the viewer toolbar, click Section Analysis then choose the type of sectioning you want to use from the following:
- Add X Plane to section along the X axis.
- Add Y Plane to section along the Y axis.
- Add Z Plane to section along the Z axis.
- Add Box to section a specific area.
Drag the desired manipulators until the model is sectioned the way you want. When done, click Section Analysis again to turn off sectioning.
Model Browser

The model browser loads the selection tree per the design model. Tags can be searched for and isolated within the browser using the search function at the top.
Model elements can be removed from the view by clicking the eye icon next to a value. The model browser can be moved to anywhere within the model viewer and can be made larger by dragging on the sides and corners.
Model Properties

When viewing models, you can access the properties for objects such as equipment, pipes, vales.
In the Properties dialog box, you can view properties of the selected object and its parent object. Object properties are view-only; they are defined in the design tool for the corresponding file type.
Select an object in the model to view its properties in the Properties dialog box. For China 1 this will include all inherent properties within the S3D and PDMS models.
The properties dialogue box can be made larger by using the drag option in the bottom right and can be repositioned anywhere within the model view.
Model Settings - General

Model settings allow a user to customize the experience within the model viewer. Categories include:
- Configuration – Performance and display settings.
- Navigation – View cube, Orbit, Zoom and mouse settings.
- Appearance – Visual quality optimization.
- Environment – Shading and background colours.
It is recommended to use the default settings.
Model Settings - Configuration

We recommend using the default configuration settings. Changes can be restored by clicking the restore all default settings button. Within the display settings “Ghost hidden objects” is a feature that can be used to improve orientation of a selection.

Ghost hidden objects is switched OFF. The model renders only the selection.

Ghost hidden objects is switched ON. The model renders the selection and grey scales the rest of the model. This helps in orientation of where objects are without cluttering the view of the complete model.
Model Settings - Navigation

- View cube tool can be switched on or off and how it acts upon pivots.
- Orbit setting change how the orbit rotation works.
- Zoom setting change how the zoom function works.
- Drag speed can often appear overly sensitive. Reduce the scroll and drag speeds for a better user experience.
- Mouse setting modify the use of mouse buttons and their interaction with the model viewer.
Model Settings - Appearance

We recommend the above appearance settings.
Model Settings - Environment

Environment setting adjusts shadows and the background colour of the model viewer.
Full Screen

Full Screen model expands the model viewer to the full screen. The internal browser and properties can be used within this setting. To use the system selection trees the user must remove full screen, make a selection, then activate full screen mode. To remove full screen mode, press the esc key.

Full Screen mode also showing model browser and properties boxes.
Navigation Cube
The navigation cube assists with orientation of model views.
Reorient the Current View to a Preset Orientation. Click one of the faces, edges, or corners on the View Cube.

Reorient to an Adjacent Face:
Click one of the triangles displayed near the edges of the View Cube tool.
Note: A face view must be current.

Roll a Face:
Click one of the roll arrows displayed above, and to the right of, the View Cube.
The left roll arrow rotates the view 90 degrees counterclockwise, while the right roll arrow rotates the view 90 degrees clockwise.

Orbit the model:
Click the View Cube, hold down the left mouse button on your pointing device, and drag to orbit the model.
Drag in the direction that you want to orbit the model.
When you drag or click the View Cube tool, the view of the model reorients around a pivot point. The pivot point is displayed at the centre of the object.

Reorient Model to Home View:
Click the Home Icon – this returns the model to its default position.
